In the world of corporate enterprises, where bottom lines and quarterly targets often dominate, it’s refreshing to see a company like CH Robinson stepping up to make a meaningful difference.

The third-party logistics provider’s partnership with The Kids’ Cancer Project isn’t just about sponsorship or philanthropy—it’s about heartfelt engagement and a commitment to a cause that touches lives in profound ways.

For CH Robinson, the journey with The Kids’ Cancer Project began with a quest to find a charity that aligned with their values. "As a team, we were interested in finding a cancer charity that aligns with our values to support," shared Liz McWilliams from CH Robinson. "We found out about the great work that The Kids’ Cancer Project does via a member of our business network."

There were also several personal connections to cancer that fuelled their passion to support childhood cancer research, which hit close to home for many at CH Robinson. "We have members of our team today with direct family or friends impacted by cancer," reveals Christine Pitt. This personal connection has added a layer of empathy and urgency to their efforts.

That initial connection has now led to the partnership being the closest relationship the domestic and international freight forwarder had with a charity partner.

According to General Manger QLD & NSW MJ Fernandes the partnership has brought unforeseen benefits, reminding their team what is important.

"Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in our business objectives," acknowledges Amber Gray. "The engagement with The Kids’ Cancer Project has helped bring perspective and formed a reminder for our team members of what is ‘important’." This newfound perspective has fostered team collaboration and generosity, even in challenging financial times.

Since partnering with The Kids’ Cancer Project, CH Robinson has celebrated several fundraising milestones. Within weeks they had embarked on their first fundraiser, hosting a series of events over a week, and smashing their target.

Over the past year they’ve also participated in several memorable events and campaigns including the CHR Pie in the Face Day, the Better Challenge and K’day. For K’day, a young double childhood osteo sarcoma survivor, Molly, spoke to the team - sharing her incredible journey. Their involvement in the Better Challenge meant they could “broaden the exposure for the cause” to friends and family. These events not only raised funds but also bolstered team spirit.

According to MJ, the enthusiasm within CH Robinson’s ranks is palpable when it comes to a charity event. "When we notify the team of an event to raise funds for The Kids’ Cancer Project, they are all onboard immediately and committed to being a part of it," Amber shares proudly.

Looking forward, CH Robinson has ambitious plans for their annual "Robinson Cares" month in September, aiming to surpass last year’s impressive $10,000 contribution.

To other organisations considering supporting The Kids’ Cancer Project, CH Robinson offers a resounding endorsement. "The cause is undeniably an important one," they assert. "The team at The Kids’ Cancer Project has been energetic and passionate about the cause, which has made our team enthusiastic in their support."

A Vision for Tomorrow

Ultimately, CH Robinson’s commitment goes beyond dollars raised; it’s about nurturing hope for a future free of childhood cancer.

"If the fundraising gets even one small step closer to a future prevention or cure for cancer, then it would be invaluable," they emphasise. Their hope is their efforts will not only alleviate the burden on families today but also pave the way for a brighter tomorrow.

“Every child deserves the chance to live a healthy and worry-free childhood. We need to continue in every possible way the search for prevention and cure so that no child has to experience it.”

“It’s partnerships like these that remind us of the power of collective action,” says The Kids’ Cancer Project’s Effie Kent. “CH Robinson is an example of businesses in the community making a huge positive impact.”
