The Kids' Cancer Project builds lasting bonds with many of its dedicated corporate partners through diverse initiatives, but for Express Glass it was a facilities management event that laid the groundwork for what was to come. Inspired to learn the work The Kids’ Cancer Project does in providing vital funding for clinical research into childhood cancer, the glass company was intent on partnering with the organisation from that moment on.
Fast forward to today and Express Glass is a committed partner of The Kids’ Cancer Project. Clients and suppliers are quick to praise the company for their work in donating to the charity, and the team is a constant and much-loved presence at corporate events including The Long Lunch, Christmas for a Cure and the Golf Days – which they consider a highlight.
Whilst Commercial Manager Mark Jennings is thankful to not have a personal connection to childhood cancer, the entire company has been made aware of the devastating effects cancer can have on a child, their family and their wider community.
“Whilst attending various The Kids’ Cancer Project events, we often hear from a family impacted by a childhood cancer diagnosis, and it is incredibly tough to hear what they’ve gone through. They often highlight the importance of funding childhood cancer research to ensure no other families go through what they’ve been through,” Jennings says.
“All children should have the chance to live a cancer free live and enjoy growing up doing all the fun things that most of us are lucky enough to consider normal.”
Much like those family members, The Express Glass team is a major advocate of ensuring funding can be directed into research to find a cure for childhood cancers and mitigate the effects of harmful treatments.
Express Glass have been lucky enough to tour the labs where the many scientists who have been afforded funding via The Kids’ Cancer Project, work. Jennings says the experience reaffirmed Express Glass’s commitment to partnering with The Kids’ Cancer Project.
"Without a doubt, it was the best experience I have been involved with at The Kids' Cancer Project," he says.
“The level of passion and dedication the scientists have for finding a cure for childhood cancer is truly inspirational. It was great to see where the funds raised are distributed and the positive impacts that they are achieving.”“Just do it! It is a fabulous organisation to be associated with amazing team members.
“We hope that our involvement with The Kids’ Cancer Project and the money we raise will help to improve their quality of life and one day cure childhood cancer for good!”
