Since 2018, SAS has been proud to partner with The Kids’ Cancer Project on their journey. Together, we’ve unlocked significant enhancements to how data and analytics impacts The Kids’ Cancer Project Donor Communication Framework and their funding of scientific research projects.
- Lynette Clunies-Ross, Region Vice President, SAS Australia and New Zealand
SAS is the leader in analytics. Through innovative software and services, SAS empowers and inspires customers around the world to transform data into intelligence.
SAS has a long-standing Data for Good initiative and in 2018 saw an opportunity to partner with The Kids’ Cancer Project and assist the organisation with improving efficiency of its donor management process. By working together, SAS is proud to help The Kids’ Cancer Project to raise more funds from donors, to advance research into childhood cancer – this includes providing software and consulting expertise, to fundraising drives at internal SAS Australia and New Zealand staff events such as an SAS Christmas Bear campaign.
SAS assisted with implementing data cleaning, and analysis software, mapping out a program to re-activate dormant donors and enlist new donors, increasing the number of regular donors and minimising list churn. The Kids’ Cancer Project had built a large database of over 1.3m donors, 300,000 of which were underutilised when SAS became involved. As part of the priority to become a more data driven organisation, The Kids’ Cancer Project has also completed a financial system reconciliation project, in which SAS played a key role in the delivery of the data management processes.
SAS Software and SAS’ consultants worked with The Kids’ Cancer Project team to automate financial data processing, reducing reporting time from eight days to two hours – realising significant operational savings that could be redirected towards The Kids’ Cancer Project’s core mission of helping sick children.
Together, SAS was able to optimise donors’ journeys with The Kids’ Cancer Project, growing regular giving totals to $1.436 million in the 2020 financial year – a 20 per cent increase on 2019 and a 60 per cent increase from 2018. This uptick in fundraising is not only pleasing, it underlines the strength of this corporate partnership together.
The Kids’ Cancer Project are lucky to have over 1 million Australians who have supported our vision of 100 per cent survival for children with cancer. The capability SAS gives us to understand our data and improve efficiencies means that we can grow our commitment to bold scientific research across Australia.
