Childhood cancer research is underfunded, so to ensure a 100% survival rate for kids with cancer, it’s up to us and our communities to dig deep for the three Aussie kids diagnosed each week.

To make things a little easier for those who want to make a difference, The Kids’ Cancer Project has launched Fundraise Your Way. The program gives fundraisers the chance to raise funds however they like for childhood cancer research.

Sometimes when there’s so many ideas it can be a little tough to decide.

So, to give you some inspiration, here’s six ideas for you and your community to Fundraise Your Way today.

Jangie's Boys Day raised $13,000 for The Kids' Cancer Project.

1. Host a get together

Fundraising for The Kids’ Cancer Project can be as simple as getting your friends together for a day underpinned by childhood cancer research.

Whether it’s at a pub, club, cafe or park, a social gathering is one of the easiest and stress-free ways to help The Kids’ Cancer Project achieve its dream of no child dying from cancer.

Chris Jang and his mates got together in Townville for Jangie’s Boys Day, raising some $13,000 for childhood cancer research in the process. It was a fun-filled, social day, underpinned by the cause that is childhood cancer.

2. Fitness challenge

Gyms and fitness classes around the country have hosted a number of successful challenges to raise money for childhood cancer research.

Driven by his daughter Matilda’s battle with leukaemia, Kyle Swain created FindACure Bunchies – his very own, tailor-made fundraiser.

Last year, Kyle and his mates held three events during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, including a 211km bike ride from Brisbane to Byron Bay, a Bunning’s BBQ and an ‘Everest Challenge’ attempt, where Ady Owen took on 148 ascents of Brisbane’s Gateway Bridge to mimic climbing Mount Everest.

Get a group together or galvanise your gym and take on a fitness challenge in support of childhood cancer research.

3. School cake stall

The quintessential school fundraiser, parents and kids can bake cupcakes and other goodies at home and bring them to school and sell for a donation. With these tasty treats and proceeds funding childhood cancer research, it’s a win-win for all parties!

4. Lose your locks

A favourite of many fundraisers, you can cut or colour your hair – if you dare – for childhood cancer research. Check out the students at Clayfield College doing just that!

5. Office events

Getting the office together to raise money for The Kids’ Cancer Project is a fun and easy way to make a difference within the workplace.

A treasure hunt, dress-up day or trivia competition is the perfect way to engage staff while building on your Corporate Social Responsibility policy!

Vineyard Medical Centre have fundraised for The Kids’ Cancer Project for six years running, with staff members dressing up in Disney and superhero costumes throughout September. There's no better way to build staff engagement at your workplace!

6. Donate your birthday

Choose to give back instead of receiving presents the next time you’re due to blow out the candles – no matter what your age might be. Asking your friends and family to contribute to the future of childhood cancer directly benefits the research we help fund, which will only further improve survival rates.
